I was so boring after lunch just now. Since it was very hot to take a nap, so I cleaned the room a bit. Guess what, I found the myki card that I have been using for like five months when I was staying in Melbourne in 2009. Wow this card sure brings back some memories.
There was once I top up the card online using the credit card, then used the card to get on the bus to go to town. While on the way, a guy came on-board to our ticket. Guess what, he said he cannot find my touch on record (in other words I didn't pay), and said there's no balance in my card, and gimme a fine ticket. I was so mad as that Australian was so damn rude. I tried to explain but he didn't want to listen. Once I reached town, I went to my friend's house and borrowed his PC to check the myki record. Guess what, there were still a lot of balance, and the bus fee has been deducted - obviously it was not my fault. My friend helped me to print out the record and filed a complaint at Metro. Initially I was so scare as I thought I need to go to the court. Grr...
Similar things happened for the Touch 'n Go card in Malaysia. There have been several times where the sensor didn't detect my card and I didn't notice - a lot of issues after that. Now I will make sure that I check the balance appear on the screen every time I put the card on the sensor, also make sure to hear the sound when touching the card.
Hmm, by right these cards should make our life easier. Grr...
